Ashit Singh, Technology Architect, McKinsey & Company, enrolled his son Kabir Singh in nursery this year in Apeejay Faridabad Sector 15. The father says he is very happy with the school because of its wonderful nurturing environment built by the efforts of the teachers. In an interview, Ashit tells us more about what he thinks of the school and its methods of imparting knowledge.
Why did you choose Apeejay Faridabad Sector 15?
Our elder daughter Gauri is also enrolled in Apeejay Faridabad Sector 15; she is now in the seventh standard. Since she was already studying in this school, we wanted to get our younger one admitted here as well. The other important reason to continue in Apeejay is the quality of education it offers. We are really happy with the curriculum, extra-curricular activities, the way the teachers conduct the classes, and the overall environment.
Now that Gauri has spent a few years in the school, what has the overall experience been like?
Things have been pretty good so far. I am witness to the diligence and efficiency of the teachers and how well they deliver lectures in the class. I have seen teachers trying to demonstrate the practical aspect of things taught in class. The school conducts different forms of personality-development sessions, which I appreciate a lot. Coming to Gauri’s progress, I have seen many positive changes. For instance, her communication abilities have improved a lot in the way she explains things. Her spoken English has also improved.
Are teachers open to feedback?
I think so. I am always keen to interact with my children’s teachers to know if we need to intervene to help the kids further in their progress.
Has Kabir settled in, and does he feel comfortable around his friends and teachers?
Yes, he feels quite comfortable. In fact, it was quite surprising to see him gel with his friends and teachers so quickly. Initially, his mother and I were a little apprehensive but the whole credit goes to her class teacher who is taking great care of Kabir. He feels very happy and excited to go to school every morning and meet his class teacher.
Would you say the teachers have been able to induce an eagerness to learn in your children?
While Kabir’s journey has just begun, Gauri, of course, is quite inquisitive. For the subjects she likes, she tries to build more understanding through in-depth studying. She keeps asking questions and pulls me into those conversations and together, we try to get more insights on the topic.
In terms of learning good values and etiquette, how has the school helped?
Gauri is quite well-equipped with good etiquette and manners, thanks to her school. I have no complaints.
