The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the postponement of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 examination, which was earlier scheduled for May 28, 2026. Candidates allotted examination slots for this date must now appear for the test on revised dates, which the NTA expects to announce shortly.
In an official notification, the agency stated that both shifts of the CUET UG examination planned for May 28 have been deferred. The decision followed a revision in the date of the Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) holiday, as notified by the Government of India. Consequently, the testing schedule required adjustment to avoid a clash with the public holiday.
The postponement has affected a large number of candidates who were preparing to appear for the examination on the designated day. However, the NTA has assured students that a fresh schedule will be released soon to ensure minimal disruption in the admission process for undergraduate programmes offered by participating universities.
Candidates have been advised to closely monitor the official CUET and NTA websites for all upcoming announcements related to the revised examination dates. The agency is also expected to issue updated admit cards and exam city intimation slips once the new schedule is finalised.
Officials further urged students and parents to rely only on verified updates shared through official channels. With several reports and rumours often circulating on social media, candidates have been cautioned against believing unconfirmed information related to the revised exam calendar.
CUET UG serves as a key entrance examination for admission to undergraduate programmes across numerous central, state, deemed, and private universities in India. Given its significance in the higher education admission process, students are advised to remain prepared and continue their revision while awaiting the updated timetable.
The NTA is expected to release further details regarding the postponed examination in the coming days, which will bring clarity to affected candidates about the revised test schedule and related formalities.
