Students of Apeejay School, Nerul, learn the value of caring for plants

Recently, Apeejay School, Nerul, organised a Value Education Programme for Grade I on the theme Plants-Our Green Friends, providing young learners with an engaging platform to understand the importance of plants and develop values of kindness, respect, responsibility, empathy and teamwork.

The programme commenced with an engaging introduction that familiarised students with the significance of plants in our everyday lives. This was followed by a heartfelt recitation, My Little Green Friend, through which the young learners expressed their affection for nature and highlighted the special relationship between humans and plants.

The highlight of the programme was the skit, The Little Tree That Saved the Day. Through an imaginative and meaningful storyline, the students showcased the importance of trees and the essential role played by sunlight, rain, soil and air in helping plants grow and flourish. The story of the little tree and the woodcutter encouraged students to reflect on how every living being has a purpose and how our choices can have consequences.

The skit also brought out the many ways in which trees enrich our lives. From providing shade and fresh air to offering food and shelter to birds and insects, the performance helped children understand why protecting trees is an important responsibility.

Adding vibrancy to the programme was a lively dance performance, Green World, which celebrated the beauty and diversity of nature. The cheerful presentation filled the atmosphere with energy while reinforcing the message of caring for the environment.

The programme concluded with a meaningful Green Promise, as the children pledged to love, protect and care for plants and trees. The activity encouraged them to translate the values they had learnt into simple actions in their daily lives.

The programme left the young learners with a simple yet powerful message: When we care for nature, nature takes care of us!
