He studied at Apeejay School, Noida, from nursery. After completing his schooling, he pursued law at the National Law School in Bengaluru. At present, he is working as a corporate lawyer based in Singapore. After completing his degree, he worked in Delhi at a couple of law firms for about five years before moving to Singapore, where he has now been for the last 10 years. Meet Rohit Anand.
In a candid interview, he shares the school values that have stayed with him.
What inspired you to pursue a career in corporate law?
At the time when I was in school, law was not a very widely discussed career option. There wasn’t much awareness around it. However, one of my close childhood friends had a father who was a Supreme Court lawyer. We spent a lot of time together, studying and growing up, and he was planning to pursue law. I think that early exposure, combined with my interest in subjects like social studies and my inclination towards discussion and debate, gradually drew me towards law.
The school places strong emphasis on values. How have those stayed with you over the years?
I still remember the school motto, Soaring High is My Nature, which really instilled a sense of ambition at an early age. It encouraged us to work hard and do well in whichever field we chose. I see that same drive in many of my classmates today, who are doing exceptionally well in their respective fields. Along with ambition, the school also instilled values like mutual respect, kindness, teamwork, and openness to ideas. These continue to remain relevant, and I try to follow them even today in my professional and personal life.
What are some of your fondest memories from school?
The friendships we built in school have lasted over the years. I am still in touch with many of my classmates. I remember an outstation trip in Class 8; we also had an overnight stay at school, where we got a glimpse of hostel life. Annual picnics, athletics events, and sports days, especially during winters, were always something we looked forward to. Those moments made school life truly enjoyable.
You have worked in India and Singapore. How would you describe the work culture in Singapore?
Singapore has grown into a major financial hub, and one of its biggest strengths is its multicultural environment. You get to work with people from across the world, and the overall talent pool is very strong. The work environment is competitive, but at the same time, there is a lot to learn from colleagues. It is also a very well-organised, safe, and convenient place to live, which makes it easier to settle down. Overall, it has been a great experience living and working in Singapore.
Is AI impacting the field of corporate law?
AI is reshaping the legal field, much like other industries. Advanced tools now streamline tasks such as contract review and data analysis, significantly improving efficiency. Work that once took hours can be completed far more quickly. While adoption is growing, professionals remain cautious. As reliability improves, AI is likely to play an even more integral role in law.
