Apeejay School, Noida organised a heartwarming experiential initiative, “A Day at School,” on, for parents of students from the Pre-Primary and Primary Departments. The initiative offered parents an opportunity to experience a typical school day from their children’s perspective while reliving cherished memories of their own school days.
The programme received an encouraging response, with 132 parents registering and 48 participating in person. Ahead of the event, detailed guidelines and a registration form were shared to ensure smooth coordination. Parents arrived in comfortable casuals in shades of brown, wore their wards’ ID cards and sports shoes, and carried school essentials such as the Almanac, notebooks, pencil boxes, fruit and lunch boxes, and water bottles.


The day began with a vibrant morning assembly led by the participating parents. Based on Sustainable Development Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, the assembly highlighted the importance of responsible resource use, reducing wastage and adopting sustainable practices. Parents enthusiastically took on different roles, presenting a role play along with the Thought for the Day, News Headlines and Campus News.
The parents then moved to their classrooms and followed a structured timetable comprising scholastic and co-scholastic sessions. Academic sessions covered concepts such as Jolly Phonics, Sink and Float, CVC Words, Things We Get from Plants and Parts of a Plant. Through quizzes, discussions and hands-on activities, parents experienced the interactive approaches used to make classroom learning engaging for young learners.

The learning experience was enriched with creative and physical activities. Parents participated enthusiastically in instrumental and vocal music, dance, Art & Craft and Sculpture sessions. The Sports session added further excitement, with activities such as Tug of War and Archery conducted under the guidance of the Sports Gurus.
The day concluded with Circle Time, including “My Experience, My Takeaway,” where parents reflected on their experiences and shared feedback. Their enthusiastic participation and positive responses made the initiative a memorable success.
“A Day at School” went beyond parent engagement, fostering empathy, connection and appreciation for children’s everyday school experiences. By stepping into their children’s shoes, parents gained a deeper understanding of their learning journey while strengthening the bond between home and school.
