Recently, Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, marked Janmashtami through a series of devotional and cultural activities that brought students together in an atmosphere of faith and joy. The celebration focused on the life and teachings of Lord Krishna while allowing students to express their understanding through music, dance, poetry and speeches.

A celebration rooted in devotion

Members from the ISKCON Temple visited the school for Krishna abhinandan and added a spiritual dimension to the occasion. They shared the message of love, devotion and righteousness associated with Lord Krishna. Their presence filled the campus with positivity and strengthened the devotional spirit of the celebration.

The school also organised a special assembly that blended devotion with creativity. Students presented solo dances, soulful bhajans and lively group performances. Each presentation reflected a different aspect of Lord Krishna and brought his enchanting presence to life before the audience.

Lessons from the life of Lord Krishna

Poems and speeches formed another meaningful part of the assembly. Through these presentations, students spoke about Lord Krishna’s teachings and his enduring message of love, compassion, righteousness and wisdom.

The programme allowed students to engage with the festival beyond its rituals. The performances and reflections helped them understand the values connected with Janmashtami and their relevance in everyday life. Faith, compassion and harmony remained at the centre of the celebration.

Recognising young talent

The occasion also included a special moment of recognition. Certificates were presented to three students selected for the Rajeshwari Kala Utsav. The recipients were Dhwani of Class IV B, Ishani of Class VII B and Sanya of Class XI B.

The recognition added a note of pride to a gathering already marked by happiness and togetherness. With devotional music, expressive performances and thoughtful presentations, the Janmashtami celebration gave students a shared space to learn, participate and reflect. It concluded with the timeless values represented by Lord Krishna finding a clear place in school life.
