‘The engineering and IT  industry is now more digital and data-driven’

Apeejay Stya University alumnus emphasises why continuous learning is key in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape

Rahul Sinha, an alumnus of Apeejay Stya University, completed his Mechanical Engineering in 2016 and began his academic journey on a scholarship earned through strong Class 12 performance. His years at the university, combined with hostel life, helped him develop independence, discipline, and a strong technical foundation. Today, he is working as a Supply Chain Specialist at Hollister Global Business Services India Private Limited, where he applies his analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills to manage operations and drive process improvements in a dynamic, evolving industry. Read edited excerpts of his interview: 

What have been your core learnings from Apeejay that have been useful in your professional journey?

The biggest learnings were structured problem-solving, analytical thinking, teamwork, and discipline. These have helped me a lot in handling real-world challenges in my professional career.

How has the industry evolved since you graduated, and what skills do you believe current engineering students should focus on developing?

The industry is now more digital and data-driven. Students should focus on data analysis, ERP tools like SAP, problem-solving, communication, and adaptability to new technologies.

 Where are you working currently?

I am currently working at Hollister Global Business Services India Private Limited as a Supply Chain Specialist, where I manage operations, coordinate with stakeholders, and drive process improvements.

How important is continuous learning for engineers in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape?

Continuous learning is very important. Technologies and processes are evolving rapidly, so staying updated is key to career growth and staying relevant.
