The HRD Cell of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Library and E-Resources: E-Journals, Databases”, aimed to enhance faculty understanding of digital academic resources and strengthening research capabilities in the evolving educational landscape.
The informative session was conducted by Ms. Ekta Tuli, Assistant Librarian (Department of Library), who shared valuable insights into the growing role of technology in transforming academic research and learning. The programme focused on how institutions are increasingly transitioning from traditional print resources to digitally accessible platforms, enabling educators and researchers to access scholarly material anytime and from anywhere.
During the session, Ms. Tuli highlighted the importance of effectively using academic databases and e-resources to support quality teaching and research. She familiarised faculty members with prominent digital resources such as
N-LIST and J-Gate, explaining how these platforms provide access to scholarly journals, research papers, and academic publications across disciplines.
A key focus of the FDP was the use of DELNET (Developing Library Network), which facilitates seamless inter-library loans and resource sharing among institutions. Faculty members gained practical insights into leveraging such tools to broaden access to academic content and improve research efficiency.
The session also emphasised the changing role of educators in promoting ethical digital research practices. Discussions revolved around responsible information retrieval, identifying credible academic sources, and the need to guide students towards ethical and informed use of digital content in an era of abundant online information.
The programme concluded with a highly engaging question-and-answer session, where faculty members actively interacted with the resource person and exchanged ideas on advanced search techniques, database navigation, and best practices in digital research. The interactive nature of the session encouraged meaningful dialogue and addressed practical concerns related to academic information access.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, appreciated Ms. Ekta Tuli for delivering an insightful and impactful session that contributes significantly to strengthening the institution’s research ecosystem.
“In today’s academic environment, staying updated with digital research tools and e-resources is essential for effective teaching and scholarly advancement. Such Faculty Development Programmes equip educators with the skills required to remain academically relevant and research-oriented,” said Dr. Rajesh Bagga.
Dr. Bagga also acknowledged the HRD Cell’s efforts for consistently organising academic and skill-based FDPs. He especially appreciated the contributions of Dr. Anu Sahi, Convener of the HRD Cell, and Ms. Preet Kamal Kaur, Faculty Coordinator, for successfully conducting initiatives that enable faculty members to stay aligned with emerging technologies and evolving academic practices.
