‘Curriculum, extracurriculars both are excellent’ says Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park parent

In a candid interview, the Apeejay parent shares how the school nurtures both academic understanding and personal growth in young children, among other things.

What were the main factors you considered when choosing a school for your child?

Before choosing Apeejay, I actually sought feedback from parents. They told me the curriculum is excellent, and the extracurricular side is equally strong. That combination of academics and activities was a major factor for me.

Did you speak to other parents, students, or teachers before making your decision? How did that influence you?

Yes, I spoke to several other parents before choosing Apeejay, and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive—both about academics and extracurriculars. That feedback proved completely true once my son started here, and I have seen a real difference in him.

How important are the school’s academic approach and teaching methods in your decision? 

Very important. At Apeejay, the approach is different—the teacher can ask anything from the chapter, so the child needs to actually understand the whole topic, not just memorise a few answers. I think this kind of teaching builds real understanding.

What were your expectations from the school when you first admitted your child? Are they met?

Honestly, my expectations have been fully met, and in some ways exceeded. My son is quite naughty. I have seen how cooperative and patient the teachers have been with him. They don’t just teach—they work on improving the child’s overall behaviour, turning weaknesses into strengths. This kind of individual attention is exactly what I was hoping for.

Every time I’ve gone to the school with a concern, I’ve come back with a solution. That consistency over the years has really reassured me that I made the right choice.

How important are factors such as extracurricular activities, sports, arts, or other opportunities in the school?

Extremely important to me. My son is interested in sports, and the teachers actively motivate him to be part of different activities. The school also encourages children to participate in various Olympiads, which really helps with their overall development, not just academics.

What role did the school’s values and approach to the overall development of children play in your choice?

This was a big factor.  Learning here isn’t just bookish. The teachers add extra knowledge in a fun way so that it stays with the child. My son often comes home and shares things he’s learned that even I wasn’t fully aware of. This shows how much teachers focus on holistic learning and not just sticking to textbooks.

How is the school environment and the way teachers interact with students?

The environment is very supportive. Whenever I have gone to teachers with a concern, they have always had an actual solution. And it’s not only the class teachers; even the senior teachers handling different sections are equally helpful and approachable.

Did factors such as location, infrastructure, safety, or accessibility influence your decision? 

Yes, infrastructure and accessibility mattered to me as well. The Panchsheel Park campus is well-equipped, and I have always felt comfortable with the safety and overall setup of the school.

What is one thing about the school that you value the most as a parent?

The thing I value most is how the teachers focus on developing the whole child—academically and behaviorally. They don’t just teach the syllabus; they actively work on shaping the child’s personality and turning any negative traits into strengths.

What changes have you noticed in your child since they joined the school?

I’ve seen a lot of positive change in my son — both in his academic understanding and his behaviour. He now grasps concepts more deeply rather than just memorizing them. He’s grown more confident, especially in areas like sports, where the teachers have encouraged him to participate.
