My Happy Friends

Every morning,
Off I go,
To my school,
Happy and slow.

At the school gate,
What do I see?
Smiling friends
Waiting for me.
One says, “Hello!”
One waves a hand.
Together we walk,
Side by side we stand.
We share our pencils,
We share our books.
We share our stories
And funny looks.
Sometimes we colour,
Sometimes we sing.
Sometimes we make
A paper ring.
We run in the playground,
We jump so high.
We count the birds
Flying in the sky.
If my friend falls,
I help right away.
A little kindness
Makes a happy day.
If I feel sad,
My friend says, “Come!”
Then we laugh,
And have more fun.
A smile is free,
A hug is too.
These are the gifts
Friends always do.
My teacher says,
“Be kind each day.
Use gentle words
In all you say.”
So I say “Please,”
And “Thank you” too.
I say “Sorry”
When I should do.
Friendship is sharing,
Friendship is care.
Friendship is helping
Everyone there.
It is not about
Big toys or treats.
It is about
Kind hearts we meet.
I will be gentle.
I will be fair.
I will be honest.
I will always care.
When we are together,
School feels bright.
Every day
Feels happy and light.
My friends are special,
This is true.
I am lucky
To have a few.
On Friendship Day,
I want to say,
“Thank you, friends,
For every day!”
Happy Friendship Day!
