Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, Jalandhar, celebrated Independence Day with a special class assembly presented by Class IX on the theme Our Responsibility in a Free India. The programme combined patriotic fervour with a meaningful message on the duties and responsibilities of citizens in a free nation.

The assembly featured a vibrant patriotic dance and a thought-provoking short drama that highlighted simple yet impactful ways in which individuals can contribute to building a better India. Through their performances, students drew attention to the importance of saving energy, conserving water, avoiding unnecessary wastage of paper, and maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings.

The patriotic dance created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and national pride, while the drama encouraged students to reflect on their everyday actions and understand how responsible choices can contribute to the larger goal of nation-building. The presentations effectively conveyed that patriotism extends beyond words and celebrations and is reflected in responsible conduct and mindful living.

Addressing the students, the school Principal, Mr AK Sharma, spoke about the significance of freedom and the responsibilities that accompany it. He encouraged students to remember and respect the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and urged them to contribute to the nation’s progress through positive and responsible actions in their daily lives.

The Vice-principal, Ms Loveleen Bagga, appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation, creativity, and sincere efforts in presenting the theme. She applauded their ability to communicate an important social message through engaging performances.

The Independence Day celebration also featured an Inter-house Group Song competition, in which students presented melodious patriotic songs with enthusiasm and confidence. The competition provided students with an opportunity to showcase their musical talent while fostering teamwork, camaraderie, and a deeper appreciation for the spirit of patriotism.

The celebration concluded with a powerful reminder that freedom is not merely a right to be cherished but also a responsibility to be upheld. The programme inspired students to recognise that even small and consistent actions can make a meaningful difference.

By conserving resources, keeping their surroundings clean and acting responsibly, young citizens can play their part in building a cleaner, greener and stronger India.
