The National Testing Agency (NTA) introduced a dedicated online portal for candidates who appeared for the cancelled NEET UG 2026 examination to submit their bank account details for fee refunds. The move comes after the May 3 NEET UG exam was scrapped following allegations of a paper leak, prompting authorities to schedule a re-examination on June 21.
According to the agency, all candidates who registered for the cancelled examination are eligible for the refund process. To ensure smooth transactions, students must provide accurate banking information through the newly launched online module.
The refund amount depends on the category under which candidates originally registered for the examination. General category students will receive Rs 1,700, while candidates belonging to the OBC and EWS categories will be refunded Rs 1,600. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the refund amount is fixed at Rs 1,000. Meanwhile, NRI applicants will receive Rs 9,500.
NTA clarified that the refunded amount will be processed according to the original fee paid during registration. However, payment gateway charges or bank transaction fees will not be reimbursed, meaning candidates may receive a slightly lower amount than what they initially paid.
Importantly, the agency confirmed that no fresh examination fee will be charged for candidates appearing in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for June 21. This decision aims to ensure that students affected by the cancellation do not face additional financial burden.
Candidates have also been advised to exercise caution while entering their banking details, as incorrect information may delay or prevent refund transfers. Students who completed their payment through cyber cafés or third-party bank accounts may need to coordinate separately to ensure the refund reaches the correct recipient.
The NTA has urged candidates to complete the bank detail submission process carefully to avoid complications and ensure timely disbursement of refunds.
