Creative vision earns glory for Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar

Students bag ‘Best Concept’ award for impactful storytelling and cinematic excellence in Khamosh Rishte

Students of Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, have once again made the institution proud by earning the ‘Best Concept’ Award for their short film Khamosh Rishte at ‘Srijan Canvas of Cinema 2026’, organised by the School of Design and Mass Communication at GNA University. The achievement reflects the students’ creative excellence, storytelling skills, and commitment to cinematic expression.

The talented students from the B.Design Multimedia Department received recognition for the film’s strong concept, compelling narrative, and impactful storytelling. Competing among participants from different institutions, the team stood out for presenting a meaningful and emotionally engaging film that resonated with audiences and judges alike.

The short film Khamosh Rishte showcased not only artistic imagination but also technical proficiency, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the students involved in its creation. Mehak Gupta played a key role as the director and writer, bringing the story to life through a thoughtful script and creative vision. Taranpreet Singh contributed as the cinematographer and editor, skillfully capturing visuals and shaping the film through effective editing techniques.

Adding to the project’s success, Pratham Singh performed dual responsibilities as both an actor and editor, while Ananya Anand displayed versatility by contributing as an actor and graphic designer. Gurkirat Kaur also played an important role as the assistant director, helping coordinate and manage the filmmaking process smoothly.

Expressing her happiness over the accomplishment, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra congratulated all the students associated with the film and praised their hard work, creativity, and passion. She stated that such achievements are the outcome of dedication, perseverance, and sincere efforts. Encouraging the students, she motivated them to continue pursuing excellence with the same commitment and enthusiasm so that they could establish successful careers in the creative and media industries.

The students shared that participating in the competition proved to be a valuable learning experience. Reflecting on their journey, they said the process of making Khamosh Rishte helped them explore different dimensions of short filmmaking, including scripting, cinematography, editing, teamwork, and visual storytelling. They expressed confidence that the experience and recognition would help them grow further in their creative pursuits.

Dr. Dhingra also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Ankit Goel and Ms. Anjali, who mentored and guided the students throughout the project. She acknowledged their contribution in nurturing talent and expressed hope that they would continue inspiring students to achieve greater heights in the future.

The recognition at Srijan Canvas of Cinema 2026 marks another milestone for Apeejay College of Fine Arts, reaffirming its commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and practical learning among students.
