To mark the 80th Independence Day, Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, presented a special assembly by Class IX students. The programme placed patriotism alongside civic responsibility. It reminded students that freedom must be protected through honesty, discipline and service to the nation.
The assembly began with the morning-prayer, followed by the ‘thought of the day’ and ‘school news’. A speech then traced the importance of India’s freedom struggle and remembered the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters. It also drew attention to the role of young people in protecting democratic values and contributing to national progress.
A patriotic song brought pride and emotion to the gathering. Students and teachers joined in the celebration, recalling the courage and determination of those who fought for India’s independence.

Patriotism through performance
The cultural segment featured a patriotic dance inspired by India’s heritage, diversity and unity. Colourful costumes, expressive performances and synchronised movements drew appreciation from the audience.
A play added a reflective note to the programme. It portrayed the sacrifices of freedom fighters and stressed that hard-earned freedom must be preserved through honesty, discipline and national service. The performance encouraged students to recognise the value of freedom and the duties that come with it.
The students later took a pledge to uphold the ideals of the Constitution and contribute positively to nation-building. The pledge reinforced the message that patriotism is reflected in sincere conduct and responsible citizenship.

A call to serve
Speaking at the occasion, the school Principal, Dr Vineet Vasishtha, said, “I congratulate the students of Class IX for presenting a meaningful and inspiring special assembly. Their speeches, songs, dance, and play beautifully reflected the values of patriotism, unity, and sacrifice. True tribute to our freedom fighters lies in becoming disciplined, responsible, and compassionate citizens who contribute positively towards the progress of our nation.”
The programme ended with the National Anthem. It left the gathering with gratitude and a renewed commitment to carry the responsibilities of freedom into everyday life.
