The NCC cadets of Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, embarked on an enriching educational trip to Dakhni Sarai, Jalandhar. The initiative was a part of routine outing activity wherein students learn meaningful lessons of history and heritage through such excursions.
The historic Sarai, known for reflecting the region’s rich past, offered cadets a rare opportunity to connect classroom learning with real historical surroundings. Walking through the centuries-old structure, students were able to engage directly with the history. Earlier, students would otherwise only encounter such events in textbooks. This trip helped young learners gain a more tangible understanding of the region’s cultural and architectural legacy.
The visit encouraged curiosity, close observation, and a deeper appreciation of India’s cultural heritage among the cadets. Rather than simply reading about historical sites, students had the chance to explore the sarai firsthand. Throughout the trip, NCC cadets examine its structure and significance, and reflect on the stories embedded within its walls.

For the NCC cadets, the excursion also reinforced values central to their training that is discipline, awareness, and a sense of responsibility toward preserving and understanding the nation’s heritage. Exposure to such historical sites helps cadets develop a broader perspective on the country’s past. This trip complemented the values of service and national pride that the NCC seeks to instill in its members.
Through this excursion, Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar, once again demonstrated the value of experiential learning. Such visits ensure that learning is not confined to books alone, but extends into real-world exploration.

The excursion to Dakhni Sarai served as a fitting reminder that history, when experienced firsthand, leaves a far more lasting impression than what can be learned through textbooks alone.
