AI vs You: AIMETC Students Explore the Skills That Will Shape the Future Job Market
Industry expert Deepak Sharma highlighted the importance of creativity, adaptability and AI proficiency in building future-ready careers.
With Artificial Intelligence rapidly transforming workplaces, careers and skill requirements, Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) organised a thought-provoking guest lecture on “AI vs You: Who Will Win the Future Job Market?” The session aimed to create awareness among students about the evolving impact of AI on employment, career pathways and the future of work.
The resource person for the session was Mr. Deepak Sharma, Director, Globiz Technologies Inc., USA, who brought valuable industry insights to the discussion. Addressing the students, he emphasised that continuous learning and skill enhancement are no longer optional in an era increasingly shaped by AI and emerging technologies.
Mr. Sharma explained that while AI is capable of automating several routine and repetitive tasks, human capabilities such as creativity, critical thinking, effective communication, adaptability and the ability to work efficiently with AI tools would remain highly valuable. He encouraged students to look beyond the perception of AI as a competitor and instead explore it as a powerful tool that can enhance productivity, innovation and problem-solving.
Emphasising the importance of adaptability, Mr. Sharma urged students to make upskilling and continuous learning an integral part of their professional journeys. He highlighted the need to remain willing to “learn, unlearn and relearn” as technologies and workplace requirements continue to evolve. His message encouraged students to take ownership of their professional development rather than wait for industry changes to dictate their career trajectories.
The lecture also focused on the importance of developing industry-relevant competencies alongside academic qualifications. Students were encouraged to stay abreast of emerging technologies, experiment with AI-powered tools, strengthen practical skills and cultivate a mindset of lifelong learning. These capabilities, the resource person noted, can help young professionals remain competitive in an increasingly technology-driven employment landscape.
Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC, appreciated the initiative and expressed confidence that industry-academia interactions of this nature would expose students to emerging trends and help them make informed career decisions. He also encouraged students to proactively embrace AI tools and technologies and integrate them meaningfully into their learning journeys.
