Hailing from Jalandhar, it was a no-brainer for this software engineer to enrol herself at Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) to pursue a BTech in Computer Science. Everyone in the city knows where to go for a programme in higher education especially if you are an Apeejayite.
“After completing my class XII, 12 I had a clear vision that I wanted to become an engineer. But there are so many different domains in engineering. So, in the beginning, I was a bit confused. But I selected Computer Science because I had an interest in making software applications, and website programme, to name a few. When I came to know about the new BTech course at AIMETC, there was no looking back,” Kashish Sharma said, who describes herself as a Software Engineer with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform well in a team.
Excerpts from an interview.
Tell us about your association with Apeejay.
Not only did I pursue my higher education from AIMETC, but I also did my schooling at Apeejay School, Model Town. You can call me an Apeejayite through and through. So, it was not as if someone had to sell me to study at AIMETC. I was always interested in software applications right from the start. After I completed my Class XII Science (non-medical) I enrolled for the course at AIMETC.
Where are you working at present?
I’m currently working in Nagaro; it is a leader in digital product engineering and drives technology-led business breakthroughs. It is a Munich-based IT consulting firm. I have been working here for the last 10 months as an associate software engineer.
I got this job through AIMETC’s campus placement cell. The mentors were very helpful and guided me throughout the entire process. They helped me make an impressive CV. They also guided me on how to conduct myself during the interview

Is this your first job? How does it feel?
Yes, this is my first job and therefore, it will always remain very special to me throughout my professional journey. It is amazing to be earning money that you can call your own. I am no longer dependent on my parents for pocket money. So, that is a big relief. I can buy whatever, within reasonable limits, I want to without having to look for approval from my parents. The fact that I have my money means that I can now buy gifts for my parents as well.
Did you get this job from the institute’s placement cell?
Yes, I got this job through AIMETC’s campus placement cell. The mentors were very helpful and guided me throughout the entire process. They helped me make an impressive CV. They also guided me on how to conduct myself during the interview. They mentored me on how to dress on the day of the interview and how to sit and be confident while answering the interviewees. The best part is that I got selected by various companies like Orange Business Services, Smart Data, and Matica. But I chose Nagaro because it allowed me to showcase my skills.
When and how did you hear about the BTech programme?
I was in school and during a summer break workshops were organised at our school on different domains like web, filmmaking, and English speaking, to name a few. I joined the workshop and it was here that I got to know that AIMETC offered a BTech programme in Computer Science. I joined the course in 2018. It was touch and go, to begin with; we were the first batch of BTech. But on the hind side, it was a great decision. I don’t regret enrolling myself here at all.
Can you recall your campus days?
I had a great learning experience, made new friends, and participated in different cultural activities as well. My only regret is that I couldn’t enjoy the entire time that I was there because, in early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and everything shifted online. But the faculty and professors like Rama ma’am and Gagandeep sir were a great help. They were always there to help us in case we got stuck; their help was very genuine and appreciated. They supported us throughout and always motivated us to do more. We used to have Zoom classes and that was according to the schedule provided to us after the lecture. The recording was provided along with the resources which were pretty helpful when it came to revising the lecture.
