Recently, the Pre-primary students of Apeejay School, Tanda Road, celebrated National Flag Day with enthusiasm and creativity. The activity gave the young learners an opportunity to understand the importance of the Indian National Flag in a simple and age-appropriate manner.

At this stage, children learn best when ideas are introduced through activities they can see, touch, and enjoy. The celebration followed this approach by bringing together art, colour, and learning. It helped the students connect with the national symbol in a way that was easy for them to understand.

Learning through art

The children took part in creative art activities planned around the Indian National Flag. As they worked with colours and shapes, they became familiar with the flag and its significance.

The activity also supported the development of fine motor skills. Handling art materials and completing creative tasks allowed the students to practise control, coordination, and careful movement. This made the celebration both meaningful and useful for their early development.

The young learners were encouraged to express their creativity while understanding why the National Flag deserves respect. The cheerful atmosphere kept them involved and made the learning experience enjoyable.

Building respect from an early age

The celebration helped instil a sense of patriotism, pride, and respect among the students. These values were introduced through a familiar and engaging classroom experience rather than through formal instruction.

For young children, such activities can make important ideas easier to remember. The National Flag was not presented only as an image, but as a symbol connected with the country and its people.

By combining creativity with value-based learning, the National Flag Day celebration gave the Pre-primary students a thoughtful introduction to a national symbol. It also showed how simple classroom activities can help children learn with interest, develop useful skills, and begin to understand the meaning of pride and respect.
