The second lunar exploration mission developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), after Chandrayaan-1, is the well-known Chandrayaan-2. It consists of a lunar orbiter, the Vikram lander and the Pragyan lunar rover, all of which were developed in India.

Apeejay School, Saket in Delhi recently brought Chandrayaan-2 rover to its corridors. How?  Through immersion (virtual reality), which set the students to know what went behind the scenes at this crucial moment in India’s Space research. This event was in collaboration with Klip VR, a premier fully Integrated Virtual Reality learning system that compliments and empowers the existing educational practices.

The Chandrayaan-2 programme led the young, inquisitive minds in the school to experience the launch of a real moon rover. They embarked on a journey to the moon, undergoing every step of the process in a highly interactive and realistic manner.

The expedition started with the students visiting the ISRO lab where they witnessed the launch of the mission. Further, students were able to orbit through Space, travel to the moon and land on the moon’s surface in the Vikram Lander. They were given the role of astronauts and Space scientists so that they can fully immerse in the moment.

Tanishka, a class 7 student says, “The experience was quite close to reality. I almost felt like I would fall down while landing on the moon.” Her classmate Ridhi shares the same sentiment. She says, “Everything in the Space felt so nice!”  According to Swastik, another student from class 7, “The best part was connecting the elements in the Space.”

Throughout the event, these young learners understood the various aspects of Space exploration and the importance of Space science. Many found the event to be both educational and thrilling.

Apeejay is committed to preparing and inspiring learners for developing crucial skills to equip them for the careers of tomorrow. Events such as these help foster the love of learning and passion for discovery.
