Ahead of the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparedness and strengthen security arrangements for the nationwide examination.

The meeting was attended by former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan, who currently heads the High-Powered Steering Committee overseeing the implementation of reforms recommended for the National Testing Agency (NTA). Senior officials from the Ministry of Education, the Department of Higher Education, and the NTA also participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, the NTA Director General briefed officials on additional measures being introduced to reinforce examination security and improve monitoring systems across centres. Discussions focused on enhancing surveillance mechanisms and ensuring stricter oversight during the conduct of the examination.

The review assumes significance amid continuing scrutiny of national-level entrance examinations and growing emphasis on transparency, accountability, and secure examination processes. Officials said the ministry is taking extra precautions to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the NEET-UG re-examination.

According to government officials, the re-exam will be conducted at over 5,400 examination centres located across nearly 550 cities in the country, making it one of the largest entrance examinations in India.

While underlining the importance of maintaining robust security protocols, Pradhan also stressed the need to ensure a student-friendly environment at examination centres. He directed officials to make adequate arrangements for candidates, including proper facilities and support systems to ensure convenience and comfort during the examination process.
