Delhi school transforms into a mini ‘Magic City’

At ‘La Fiesta’, students, parents and guests participated in sketching, photography, fun rides and more

Apeejay School, Saket recently held its annual winter carnival, ‘La Fiesta’. The event comprised star attractions such as games, food stalls, on the spot photography and print, sketching, fun rides, disco station, baby show and talent hunt, and many more interesting activities. 

Shri Naresh Yadav, a social worker and Member of the Legislative Assembly graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the efforts of the school in putting up a brilliant show. In his address, he further reiterated community-based efforts to improve the socio-civic setup of the society. Dr. Jeet Ram Bhatt, Secretary, Hindi and Sanskrit Academy, Delhi Government, a prominent writer and influencer was the special invitee of the event. Sharing a similar sentiment, he appreciated the school as well for organising a marvellous gala event where culture, literature and entrepreneurship was being propagated among the youth.

Dr Reema Ramachandran, Chairman of Resident Welfare Association in Saket also graced the special event. Dr. V S Garg, Education Advisor, Mr N. N. Nayyar, Senior Education Officer, and Ms. Purnima Vohra, Education Advisor at Apeejay Education were present. All of them encouraged the efforts of the students.

The school’s Principal, Dr. Sujeet Eric Masih extended a heartfelt welcome to the guests. He further highlighted the contribution and inventiveness of Late Dr. Stya Paul, Founder-Chairman at Apeejay Education and Apeejay Stya and Svran Group. He said, “Sir’s legacy is now carried forward by his only daughter Ms. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson, Apeejay Education. It is our endeavour to learn from these visionaries.”

The main attraction of the event were the singing sensations, Satikant along with school alumni Aranya Mukherjee and Nandini who are extremely talented artistes. The melodious trio enchanted the audience with their zest. Besides, many onsite performances by parents, community members and youth were held. 

Students showcased essential skills such as management, advertising and communication through their exciting game stalls. From dining to décor, they ingeniously planned and organised everything to make the guests feel welcome. While on one hand, the exuberant Rajasthani, Gadhwali and Haryanvi folk dance performances provided the setting a flavour of culture. On the other, energetic flash mobs by students became crowd pullers and made people dance to the beats.

Astounding solo performances filled everybody’s heart with glee and happiness. The school also held the ‘White Elephant Sale’ to create light for others. Many came forward to donate for a good cause.

Amongst other charms, a wide variety of food stalls tantalised the taste buds of the crowd. And, the Raffle Draw prizes proved to be a test of luck!  

It was an enjoyable day for the gathering. The immense creative talent of the students was fully appreciated by everyone as well as the guests and parents veritably admired the endeavour of the school for presenting an event par excellence.
