A plastic collection drive was organised at Apeejay School, Sector-15, Faridabad, with the objective of sensitising students towards the growing problem of plastic waste and encouraging them to adopt the principles of the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Eco Savera and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and teachers.
As part of the drive, students were encouraged to collect plastic waste from their homes and bring it to school. Responding positively to the initiative, students collected and contributed a variety of commonly used plastic items, including milk packets, plastic bottles, tiffins and polybags. The activity provided students with an opportunity to understand how everyday consumption choices contribute to the larger issue of plastic pollution.
Particular emphasis was placed on the harmful impact of polybags, which are among the most persistent forms of plastic waste. When improperly disposed of, they can choke drains, pollute water bodies, pose a serious threat to animals and wildlife, and remain in the environment for hundreds of years. The collection drive aimed to help students recognise these consequences and understand the importance of responsible waste management.

The enthusiastic participation of the school community resulted in the collection of a substantial quantity of polybags and other plastic waste. More importantly, the initiative served as a practical learning experience, demonstrating that environmental conservation begins with small, consistent actions at the individual and community levels.
Through the drive, students were encouraged to become more mindful of their use and disposal of plastic and to make environmentally responsible choices in their daily lives. The activity also reinforced the message that every individual has a role to play in keeping the surroundings clean and sustainable.
The plastic collection drive concluded on a positive note, leaving students with a stronger sense of responsibility towards the environment. It was a meaningful step towards nurturing eco-conscious habits among young learners and contributing to the vision of a cleaner, greener and more sustainable Faridabad.
