Former United States Secretary of State Colin Powell once said, “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from mistakes.” His words hold true for every person pursuing success, and wanting to better their lives by working towards a goal.

Encouraging the same sentiment amongst students at school, Apeejay School, Saket hosted the Dakshta Padak Samaroh, the annual prize distribution ceremony on November 17, 2021 to celebrate the achievement of students, their academic pursuits and efforts.

Commencing the ceremony with the auspicious lighting of the lamp, the school Principal, Dr. Sujit Eric Masih, delivered a brief address to welcome the guests including Chief Guest, Dr. Nidhi Sarohe, South District Magistrate, South Delhi. His address was followed by mesmerising Odissi dance performance by students which enthralled the audience.

Further, Dr. Sarohe inspired the student scholars with a motivational speech, boosting their spirits to learn and achieve great heights throughout their lives. She said, “Never give up on hard work and imbibe human values imparted at the school. Focus on the overall development of your personality, mental and physical health.”

While the students were being awarded scholar badges at the event, the Special Guest for the session, a distinguished mathematician, Professor Ashutosh Wazalwar, former Head DESM, NCERT, enlightened them with his pearls of wisdom. He said, “A school and its teachers play an important role in transmitting knowledge in classrooms and from students we expect that they compete with themselves, not others. Once they do so, they would know their shortcomings and work towards self-development. I firmly believe that every child can learn but one needs to learn how to learn.”

School alumni and high scorers at JEE examinations, Shashwat Shivam and Vayun, who had also been all-round achievers during their school years, attended the session to share their success mantras with the current students. Both of them shared tips to help students perform well in their professional journeys, as Vayun said, “My teachers at Apeejay supported me throughout. Combined with hard work and timely revision, I was able to achieve a good score in my papers.”

Altogether, 120 students at the school received scholar badges and e- certificates. Students with commendable and exemplary self-growth were also appreciated during the ceremony and awarded e-certificates. Kushveen Kaur, a student of class 11 who received a scholar badge for scoring 90% and above in class 10 Board examinations says, “It was a beautiful ceremony organised by my school and I felt proud receiving the honour. My tip to fellow classmates and juniors would be to stay focused and work hard.”

Super Scholars for three years and four years were duly felicitated at the event and Merit certificates were conferred upon students scoring 95% and above.

Concluding the session, Teacher-coordinator Zenia Dutta proposed a vote of thanks to the audience. She thanked all the guests for their presence, and expressed her gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to all teachers, parents, and students.

“Dakshata Padak Samaroh is an annual feature at our school as we celebrate the achievements of students who have outperformed themselves from the previous year. I congratulate all the student scholars and encourage them to excel and learn holistic skills at school that would help them throughout their lives.”
