Apeejay’s IB school celebrates the visionary leadership of Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia

Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson, Apeejay Education and Chancellor Apeejay Stya University, is a remarkable individual whose multifaceted persona encompasses roles as a leading entrepreneur, industrialist, and educationist. With a lifelong dedication to nation-building and a global footprint, she stands as an alchemist, seamlessly navigating her roles as a humanitarian, devoted daughter, caring spouse, nurturing mother, and generous grandmother.

Beyond being the first woman to lead a multi-state apex Chamber of Commerce in India and heading a pharmaceutical company, Mrs Berlia is a trailblazer in the field of education, being the first woman entrepreneur of a major educational group in India. Her contributions extend beyond the realms of business, as she has served on esteemed boards and councils, including the Board of Governors of IIT Roorkee and NIT, Jalandhar.

Her humanitarian efforts are equally noteworthy, championing causes for the physically challenged, economically disadvantaged, and women’s empowerment. Recognised globally for her outstanding contributions, she has received a plethora of awards and accolades, further solidifying her legacy. Her profound impact and visionary leadership extend to her association with Apeejay schools and higher education, where her invaluable guidance and transformative vision have played a pivotal role in shaping the institution’s ethos and direction towards excellence. Mrs Berlia’s commitment to education and nation-building resonates deeply within the Apeejay community, making her an indispensable pillar of strength and inspiration.

In a jubilant and heartwarming display of reverence and appreciation, Apeejay School International (ASI), Panchsheel Park, came together on November 2, 2023 to commemorate the extraordinary vision and values of its esteemed leader on the occasion of her birthday. The atmosphere was electric with love and respect, leaving an indelible mark on all in attendance.

The festivities commenced with a warm and heartfelt welcome from the Principal of ASI, Mr Purshottam Dutt Vashist, setting the tone for the promising and exceptional day. Addressing the gathering, he provided profound insights into Mrs Berlia’s unwavering dedication to her vision and the values she ardently upholds. Each word resonated deeply, igniting inspiration and purpose in every heart present. It was a powerful reminder of the force of nature that the Chairperson embodies, motivating students to strive for excellence.

The school’s vibrant cultural performances painted a vivid tableau of the diversity and unity held dear by ASI. They encapsulated the inclusive environment Mrs Berlia has painstakingly fostered throughout Apeejay institutes. A highlight of the event was the release of a kaleidoscope of colourful balloons by the students and staff, symbolising the boundless aspirations that Mrs Berlia encourages in each individual. In a touching finale, the entire school took a solemn pledge to recognise and nurture the divine spark within each of them, and to extend kindness and goodwill to all. To add a sweet note to the day, chocolates were generously distributed among students and staff, creating moments of pure joy and camaraderie. This act of sharing sweets became a powerful symbol of the unity and affection within the school.
