Apeejay celebrates the incredible journey of Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia on her birthday

Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, extends warm wishes to Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson, Apeejay Education and Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University on her birthday. A leading woman entrepreneur, industrialist and educationist, Mrs Berlia has played a significant role in bringing out educational reform by promoting inclusivity, equal access, skill development, and more. She is the first woman to lead a multi-state apex Chamber of Commerce in India and head a pharmaceutical company.
Her visionary leadership, profound influence, invaluable guidance and transformative vision have been instrumental in shaping Apeejay institution’s values and charting a course towards excellence. Her unwavering dedication to achieve excellence has left an indelible mark on the institutions and Apeejay members. Moreover, her commitment to education and nation-building resonates deeply within the Apeejay community, making her an indispensable pillar of strength and inspiration.

Thus, honouring Mrs Berlia’s incredible journey on her birthday, faculty members and students at ACFA celebrated the day with great joy and reverence.
During the celebrations, Dr Neerja Dhingra, Principal of ACFA, addressed the august gathering and conveyed the birthday wishes to Mrs. Berlia on behalf of all students and staff. The celebrations began with invoking the heavenly blessings following which the students from Department of Music recited ‘Govardhan Girdhari’ under the guidance of Dr Vivek Verma. Dr. Sunit Kaur, Head, Department of English at ACFA, highlighted the accomplishments of Mrs Berlia and a documentary was shown to the students which highlighted her spectacular journey.
Further, a brilliant Kathak performance by Ridhima, an MA student from the Department of Dance, was the icing on the cake in this celebration. and a scintillating choreography was also done in her honour. Also, the students took the pledge on this day to be kind, helpful and make a difference in other’s life in each and every possible way and carve a path for them that ultimately makes them the best version of themselves.

At the same time, taking a pledge of positivity on this special occasion, Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC) in Jalandhar celebrated Mrs Berlia’s birthday with a heartfelt reflection on her life journey and numerous accomplishments.
Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, addressed the audience and expressed the significance of this occasion. He described Mrs Berlia as a beacon of entrepreneurship, a humanitarian, a devoted daughter, a nurturing mother, and a doting grandmother. Dr. Bagga further emphasised the profound virtues that the visionary leader embodies, including humility, gratitude, hard work, self-belief, resilience, and the unwavering belief in becoming the grandest version of oneself.


The celebration continued with a mesmerising Vandana, a spiritual offering, to seek divine blessings, grace, and abundance. The cultural extravaganza featured captivating performances, including a melodious medley showcase by the institute’s talented singers. Meghdeep Kaur, an MCA student, recited an inspiring poem that underscored the theme that success comes to those who are hardworking, perseverant, dedicated, and committed, much like the Chairperson.

Subsequently, in a solemn pledge-taking ceremony, students, staff, and the Director vowed to express gratitude, spread happiness every day, and strive to be helpful, optimistic, and the grandest version of themselves. Dr. Bagga also shared a thank-you message received from Mrs Berlia with the audience, further highlighting the spirit of gratitude and optimism that she embodies.
The celebration reached its zenith with a spectacular folk-dance performance, captivating the audience with vibrant cultural expressions.
In the end, colourful balloons were released into the sky, symbolisng the aspirations and good will of all present. The event was a heartfelt tribute to the remarkable individual – a true leader and a visionary personality.
