The Graphic Design Department and the BTE Diploma in Applied Art from Apeejay Institute of Design (AID) recently visited Kunj,a cultural and handicraft hub in Vasant Kunj, accompanied by faculty members Ms. Divya Virmani and Ms. Gargi Neogi. The visit transformed the space into an open-air classroom filled with creative exploration and hands-on photography practice.
Throughout the session, students experimented freely with their cameras and phones, discovering how light and shadow can dramatically influence the mood of a photograph. They observed the play of soft highlights, the depth that shadows create, and how contrast brings clarity and structure to forms. By studying natural and architectural elements, students learnt to use lines, curves, patterns, and textures to craft stronger visual compositions.
They explored multiple perspectives—shooting from high and low angles, wide frames, and tight close-ups—to understand how viewpoint shapes visual storytelling. Along with technical learning, the collaborative spirit among all departments made the experience even more meaningful. Seniors shared guidance, juniors asked questions, and everyone supported one another’s creative experiments.

By the end of the day, students returned not just with a diverse set of photographs, but with a deeper visual awareness—an enhanced ability to observe light, form, texture, and fleeting moments with the trained eye of a designer.
