Akriti Pratap Singh, an alumna of the School of Engineering & Technology (SOET) at Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram, is a Computer Science Engineering graduate who successfully cleared the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. Currently working as a Software Development Engineer, she combines her passion for technology with creativity, enjoying sketching and problem-solving in her free time while continuing to pursue innovation and growth in the tech field. In a quick interview, she explains how she balanced GATE preparation alongside her job.
Could you walk us through your preparation strategy and how you managed to balance your job with GATE?
Preparing for GATE while working is challenging, but with proper time management, it becomes manageable. I followed a consistent study routine alongside my job.
Which subjects did you focus on? What challenges did you face?
I focused mainly on Mathematics, DBMS, Data Structures, Digital Electronics, Operating Systems, and General Aptitude. Solving previous year questions (PYQs) and attempting test series helped strengthen my concepts and improve my rank. Managing time was a challenge.
How do you plan to use this success, and what advice would you give to juniors?
I plan to use this achievement to grow further in my professional career. My advice to juniors is to stay consistent, manage time effectively, and practice regularly through PYQs and mock tests.
