Apeejay School, Model Town, observed Vaisakhi with a series of cultural activities that brought together tradition, student participation, and festive spirit. The celebration aimed to familiarise students with the cultural and historical significance of the harvest festival while creating space for expression through performance.
The programme featured lively Punjabi dance performances presented by students. Their movements reflected the energy and joy associated with Vaisakhi. The performances helped younger students understand the festive mood that marks the harvest season in northern India.
An energetic Gatka display formed another key highlight of the event. The presentation introduced students to this traditional martial art form, often associated with Sikh history and bravery. It offered both a visual experience and a learning opportunity about cultural heritage.
Student voices and learning
Students also delivered speeches that explained the importance of Vaisakhi as a harvest festival and its connection with community life. Through these presentations, they shared insights into the festival’s relevance and its place in Indian culture. These efforts reflected both preparation and understanding of the topic.

The celebration created an environment where learning moved beyond textbooks. It encouraged students to connect with cultural traditions in a direct and engaging manner.
Looking ahead
The event highlighted how school activities can play a role in preserving cultural awareness among students. Such celebrations help build a sense of connection with traditions while supporting confidence and participation.
