For parents, choosing the right school for a young child is as much about emotional well-being as it is about academics. Ms Rekha Sharda, mother of Class I student Drishti, shares her experience with Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, highlighting how the school’s balanced curriculum, sensitive teaching approach and child-centric environment have helped her daughter settle in happily and confidently.
Read edited excerpts:
As a parent of a Class I student, how do you view the curriculum at Apeejay Svran Global School?
I am quite satisfied with the curriculum. It is very well designed for a first-grade child. The focus is not only on academics but also on overall development. Drishti’s communication skills have improved, especially her spoken English. At the same time, the school is giving equal importance to Hindi reading and writing, which I really appreciate.
Are there any specific aspects of learning that stand out for you?
Yes, definitely. There are around eight integrated subjects, which makes learning interesting and engaging. Even activities like lawn tennis are part of the curriculum, which is great for such young children. For a Class I student, this kind of balanced exposure is very important.
What changes have you noticed in Drishti since joining the school?
The biggest change is that she is happy and stress-free. The teachers do not put unnecessary pressure on children. Every child is allowed to learn at their own pace. In her previous school, there was a lot of pressure and comparison among children, which I feel is not healthy at such a young age. I have not seen that culture here, and that makes a big difference.
How has Drishti adapted to the new school environment?
We shifted from Baroda, and the environment there was very different. This is the first time Drishti is in a school that goes from Class I to Class XII. The teachers and the school leadership were very supportive. They comforted her, understood her difficulties and helped her adjust according to her psychology. That support helped her settle in smoothly.
Does Drishti enjoy coming to school?
Yes, she enjoys everything about school. She is a very happy child and genuinely likes going to school. At this age, that is the biggest reassurance for a parent.
Has she participated in any activities recently?
She took part in a fancy dress competition in December. She dressed up as a skeleton and was very excited. What made me happiest was that she chose the costume herself. It showed her confidence and excitement about school activities.
