Apeejay Stya University (ASU) has been a stepping stone for many students who aspire to make a mark in their respective fields. One such inspiring alumna is Manisha Chauhan, who completed her Master’s in Clinical Research (2023) and is now working as a Quality Assurance Specialist at Consure Medical. In this conversation, she shares her experience at ASU, the role of her mentors, and how the university helped shape her career in the medical device industry.
What inspired you to pursue Clinical Research at Apeejay Stya University?
During my undergraduate studies, some professors from ASU visited my university and introduced us to the MSc in Clinical Research. Their explanation intrigued me, and I researched further. What truly convinced me was the comprehensive curriculum and the scholarship opportunities. Eventually, I realised ASU was the best choice for me.
How did ASU contribute to your professional journey?
My experience at ASU was excellent, and the faculty played a key role in shaping my career. My mentor guided me immensely, which led me to join QNQ Design and Development. The placement cell also helped me secure internships at Sun Pharma and QNQ Design and Development, which provided me with practical exposure and industry insights.
How does your current role align with what you learned at ASU?
At Consure Medical, I ensure quality compliance in medical device manufacturing by following ISO 13485 and maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS). My course at ASU covered essential aspects like regulatory affairs, clinical research phases, biostatistics, and medical writing, which are crucial in my current role. The knowledge I gained about Good Clinical Practice (GCP 2) and Clinical Data Management directly applies to my work today.
What advice would you give to students aspiring to enter this industry?
Clinical research is a growing field, especially in the medical device sector. Students should focus on understanding regulatory frameworks, clinical research phases, and quality control measures. ASU’s program is well-structured to prepare students for these aspects, making them industry-ready.
Any final thoughts on your journey with ASU?
ASU provided me with the perfect foundation to build my career. The faculty, mentorship, and placement opportunities were instrumental in helping me transition smoothly into the industry.
