Prem Chandra Shandilya is a Civil Engineer at a private company while his spouse Shikha Shandilya is a former school teacher. They are proud parents of Prathamesh Shandilya and Divyesh Shandilya who have been studying in Apeejay School Kharghar since Nursery. The former is in class 7 while the latter is studying in class 2. In a candid interview, Prem Chandra elaborates on how Apeejay aided in the holistic development of his kids. Edited excerpts:

Why did you pick Apeejay?

I had heard great things about Apeejay Kharghar even before I settled in Mumbai. I also did a thorough research by going through various papers and publications to know more about the school. Based on my research, I found out that Apeejay was consistently ranked among the top 10 schools in that region. The reviews also mentioned that the school has good faculty and with solid infrastructure.

Are you happy with the progress of your kids?

Absolutely. Prathamesh has a good personality, fantastic communication skills and superb grasping power. Divyesh too has great speaking skills and gave impressive presentations on Zoom during Covid. I am happy to state that both my kids have great speaking skills. Having strong communication skills aids in all aspects of life – from professional life to personal. Being in the corporate world, I understand how good communication skills are essential to communicate your ideas and climb up the ladder. Prathamesh can also play piano keyboard with perfection. Academically too, my kids are doing great. Prathamesh has been consistently ranked among the top 5 students in the class while Divyesh too is scoring really well. The best part is that both of them have not opted for any tuition classes.

Tell us about the teachers.

One good thing that happened during the pandemic is that it allowed parents to carefully observe the teachers and their way of teaching. I experienced first-hand how remarkable the faculty was. Their explanation style made it easier for students to grasp difficult concepts. They also observed and constantly interacted with each student. To top it all, every assignment and homework was carefully checked. Even with parents they share an excellent rapport and pay heed to our suggestions. For instance, I once requested the faculty to give mock exams to help students confidently face online exams. Remember, due to the pandemic, the students had no clue on who to take online exams. I am thankful that my feedback was accepted.

In class 6, my elder son delivered an online PowerPoint Presentation on Covid-19. It had all the information on Coronavirus. After the presentation, he was profusely praised by his teachers and others. It was a proud moment to see my kid speak confidently in front of others. I also felt ecstatic to see his articles being published regularly on apeejay.news
