The National Testing Agency (NTA) is preparing to conduct the NEET UG 2026 examination again following the cancellation of the May 3, 2026 test. According to sources, the agency is working on an urgent basis to ensure that the new MBBS academic session does not face major delays.
Officials indicated that the revised examination is likely to be held either in the last week of June or the first week of July. However, the NTA has not officially confirmed any date yet. A fresh schedule is expected to be announced soon on the official NEET website.
It has been clarified that no official notification has been issued so far, and students are advised not to rely on rumours spreading on social media.
Restoring trust in the examination process has emerged as the biggest challenge before the NTA after the controversy surrounding the cancelled exam. During hearings related to previous NEET issues, the Supreme Court had stressed the need to maintain the sanctity and credibility of the examination system.
Sources said the agency is now focusing on creating a foolproof mechanism to prevent paper leaks and malpractice during the re-examination. Senior officials are reportedly holding regular meetings with different agencies to strengthen security arrangements.
Preparation of a fresh question paper has already begun through a confidential and multi-layered process. A new panel of experienced teachers and subject experts is being formed to design the paper. The exam is expected to include theory-based, formula-orientated, analytical, and application-driven questions.
The safe printing and transportation of question papers remain major concerns. To enhance security, encrypted digital transmission, GPS-tracked vehicles, and police assistance may be used during distribution.
Students who had already registered for NEET UG 2026 are likely to remain eligible for the re-exam without any fresh registration process.
