CBSE Class XII Result 2026: ‘PYQs and the NCERT helped me build confidence’
Student from Apeejay School, Greater Noida shares that focus on concepts and revision led to his success
The Central Board of Secondary Education declared the Class XII Board exam results for 2026 on May 13 through its official websites. This year, the overall pass percentage stood at 85.20%. Out of 17,80,365 registered candidates, 17,68,968 students appeared for the exam, while 15,07,109 cleared it successfully.
Beyond the above numbers, a student from Apeejay School, Greater Noida, highlighted the consistent habits and focused preparation that shaped his results. Meet Ansh Agrawal from the Science stream, who scored 96%.
In a candid interview, he shared his plans and the role of schoolteachers in his success, among other things.
Take us through your study strategy.
By January 2026, my syllabus had already been completed, so revision became the main focus. I concentrated on previous year’s questions (PYQs) from the last four to five years and read NCERT line by line to make sure I understood every concept and did not miss anything. I focused more on completing topics rather than counting hours. The time depended on the chapter.
How important is the NCERT for Board exam preparation?
The NCERT is extremely important for Chemistry, especially for Inorganic, Physical, and Organic Chemistry. It is also important in Physics because it helps build concepts and gives good practice for questions.
Class XII can be stressful, especially while preparing for competitive exams like JEE. How did you manage stress?
I did not study exclusively for the Board exams until December 2025. Since my JEE preparation was already strong, it helped me perform well in boards too. For subjects like English and Computer Science, I studied throughout the year for about half an hour daily. I also believe breaks are important. But studying every day is necessary.
What are your plans?
Right now my JEE Advanced exam is very close, on May 17, 2026. After that, I want to relax for a few months, take a proper break, and maybe learn a new hobby or even an instrument. I may also pick up a new programming language like C or Python.
What role did your teachers play during your Class XII preparation?
My teachers played a very important role throughout the year. During syllabus completion, they helped clear concepts and solved all our doubts. They also guided us on how to study and approach questions properly. During the final months, they provided question papers and sample papers and also guided us on how to stay calm during the exam and attempt the paper effectively.
