Misha Sharma is currently pursuing her PG Diploma in Corporate Communication and Event Management (CCEM) from Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), New Delhi. The Apeejay student has deep interest in reading and listening to music, and has been working on herself to train as a yoga practitioner. After graduating from Manipal University Jaipur, Misha knew that she wanted to make a career in Public Relations. At AIMC, she is gaining an all-round exposure in this field to join the same. Previously, she has also interned with public relations firms like Weber Shandwick, and many other fields of media. In this interview she shares her interests in the media field. Read edited excerpts:

Do you enjoy PR or events more than reporting and journalism?

I think it’s good to follow what you are passionate about, as your career. This is what I did, and I am loving it now. Media, PR, journalism – all of these attract me. I am not a bookworm, but I am best suited for practical-based career opportunities.

What’s the inspiration to be a part of the PR and media field?

I am an extrovert. Whatever I think, I have to say and this habit has always helped me create relationships for the long term. This is the most important skill required in PR and media, to be a good communicator.

What have you learned from attending the We Care film festival? How do these events help in shaping a media professional?

We Care Film Festival was successfully organised by us, the students of CCEM, AIMC 2022-23 batch.

It was indeed a great opportunity for all of us to know how an event is organised from scratch. We took care of minute things, and with the help of our respected faculty we did it.

We Care Film Festival is held every year at the AIMC in Dwarka to create awareness on the issue of ‘disability’. I, being the coordinator, learned a lot during the journey. After this event we know:

– to prepare for the event at least two months before the D-day

– making relations with the guests, students, mates, etc., will always help you, anytime

– even if you have a lot of duties, manage your time, so that you don’t miss the fun time

– it is very important to manage time, I made the newsletter and also handled various duties given to me, simultaneously.

When did you start your writing journey? Which was your first piece?

Haha, this is a funny story. I wrote my first piece when I was in class 4, as my dear diary. It was a cute letter to my parents, thanking them. Later, I started to write during my graduation, became the newsletter editor, and published many articles for blogs as well.

What has been your personal learning experience from this writing journey?

Don’t stop and think. Write with a cup of coffee, once you start, the words automatically start to flow. And, you will see yourself writing an article. I would say it’s your dedication and commitment too.

Do you wish to become a writer in the future?

Yes, if I get a chance, I would like to write a book.
