One of the main reasons this parent chose this school was its proximity to their home. Her son was at another school, and picking up and dropping off was a chore for the family. The family was looking for a school closer to home. Apeejay School, Tanda Road, was an ideal choice. The fact that the family was encouraged to choose this school by a friend whose children are already studying here sealed the deal. Meet Poonam Mohindru, whose son, Hayan Jerath, and daughter, Jasvi, are studying here in Class V and LKG, respectively.
In a candid interview, the parent shares how the school makes learning interesting and enjoyable for young children, among other things.
Why choose a school close to home?
My son joined the school when he was in LKG. Parents want to know that their child is only a short drive away from home. Safety is an important consideration. Given the number of road accidents we hear about, we were not comfortable sending our children in a van or an auto. Being close to the school makes it easier for us to manage their commute ourselves.
How does the school make learning interesting and enjoyable for young children?
The teachers use stories, activities, and real-world examples to explain concepts. They teach in a fun and engaging manner, which makes lessons easier for children to understand and keeps them interested.

How does the school provide a safe and welcoming environment?
The school gives considerable attention to physical security. Guards and staff members are present at the entry and exit points, and they carefully monitor the arrival and departure of students. The teachers and staff are also familiar with the children and know them by name. This makes the environment feel more personal and reassuring. Since the student strength is manageable, teachers are able to know the children well and pay attention to them individually.
Which activities and sports does Hayan enjoy?
He enjoys playing chess and badminton. He also participates actively in dance competitions. The school gives him several opportunities to participate in competitions and activities. These are organised both within the school and at external venues, allowing him to explore his interests and take part with confidence.
How is Hayan’s relationship with his teachers?
His interaction with the teachers is very good. They are approachable, and he feels comfortable sharing his problems with them. One experience remains especially close to his heart. Soon after joining the school, he attended a summer camp. Since he did not know anyone at the time, he felt lonely and uncomfortable. A school coordinator then noticed his discomfort and made him feel comfortable. He still remembers the kindness and support she showed him during those early days.
