IAF Chief explores AI and Data Analytics for pilot training and evaluation

Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief VR Chaudhari noted the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics to revolutionise pilot training. He highlighted that the extensive digital record of every trainee pilot’s flight data could be leveraged for comprehensive assessments, rather than relying solely on individual test flights.

Speaking at the International Pilot Training Symposium in Chennai, Chaudhari discussed the benefits of using AI and software tools to analyse this wealth of data, providing accurate and unbiased performance evaluations. He also acknowledged the evolving technological prowess of today’s cadets and underscored the significance of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in modern training methods.

Chaudhari raised questions about tailoring training to individual capabilities and mentioned alternative approaches to pilot training followed by other air forces.
