When it comes to choosing the perfect school for their children, parents look at several things. They ask for recommendations from family and friends; they do their research on the Internet, read the reviews posted by other parents, and they also look at the brand value that the school has. All in all, it can be a daunting task. Once they are satisfied on these counts, they look at other aspects as well like proximity from home.

“It was important for me that my son, Moulik Raj Singh, who has now gone into class I at Apeejay School, Saket, study at a school that not only has a great reputation in the market but also is near to where we live. My husband, Amrit Raj Singh and I are working, proximity to the school was important for us, “Nisha said, who works with the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

Excerpts from an interview.

Why and how did you choose Apeejay?

There were a few things that we took into consideration while deciding to choose this school. First, as I mentioned, it is near to where we live. Second, I had heard and now experienced first-hand how good the education is at this school. The way the teachers impart knowledge is very good at this school.

Did you hear about the Apeejay brand before looking at the school?

Yes, definitely. We live in the Saket area. There are so many other schools like Gyan Bharati School, Greenfield School, and Apeejay School. Of these, Apeejay enjoyed the best reputation in all aspects. So, I didn’t even try to fill out the admission forms for the other schools.

Why was it so important that school be near to home?

While it is important that was not the only criteria for me. I chose Apeejay based on its brand value, education and the good teachers it has. My son is very young, so it is difficult to make an opinion about the school so quickly. But everyone around me told me that I would not regret my decision and as of now, I don’t think I ever will. I had a vision of how my son’s school should be; the feedback that I got about Apeejay fit that image.

How was the admission process?

It was COVID-19 times, I don’t remember much but I know that the entire process was smooth and easy and Moulik got admission rather easily. The administrative staff was very cooperative as was the principal for the school. They made us feel so comfortable.

How has his learning curve been?

I would say there have been several good changes for him. He has become more well mannered which can only happen with education and moral values imparted in the school. He has learnt so many other things – how to respect elders, how to behave in the company of people; he has learnt etiquette as well.

The best part is that he is now looking at everything to learn new things. This school has inculcated a habit in him that one can gain knowledge from anywhere, so he looks for avenues that can help him in this regard. He loves to ask ‘why’.

How do you as a parent cope with his learning?

I have bought several books for his age. I encourage him to read whatever words he can. The rest of the time, I read out the stories to him. He has become curious by nature and I think he will become an engineer because he opens all his toys to see what makes them work. He seldom shares his feelings but I know that he loves going to school and learning new things.

You are working as does your husband. How do you spend quality time?

Once we are back home, we take him to the nearby park. Even there he is busy looking at things and wants to know how different things are working. He wants to know why the school has plants in large pots and we have them in small ones. We encourage his curiosity.

How are the parent-teacher meetings?

They are regular and we get good and positive feedback. Lakshmi ma’am, his nursery teacher, was brilliant. I don’t have the words to express how good she was with him. I will remain indebted to her lifelong. Then there was Manisha ma’am. She was so good that even today, he goes and sits in her class waiting for her to come. There have been times when I have had to go to the KG class to get him. His class I teacher is just as good.

Would you recommend Apeejay to other parents?

I always do. I tell everyone that if you want to give quality education to your child, this is the perfect place. The icing on the cake is the brilliant teachers here. Even if your child manages to imbibe 10 per cent of the knowledge the school imparts, your child will have an edge over all the other kids.
