JoSAA counselling 2026 begins, choice-filling open till June 10

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority has started the JoSAA counselling 2026 registration and choice-filling process for candidates seeking admission to IITs and other participating engineering institutions. Students who have qualified for JEE Advanced 2026 can now complete the counselling formalities through the official portal, josaa.nic.in.

The process is important because seat allotment will be based on the choices entered by candidates, their rank, category, seat availability, and other eligibility conditions. Candidates must log in with their application number, password, and captcha code before selecting their preferred institutes and academic programmes.

As per the schedule, the registration and choice-filling facility will remain available until June 10, 2026. Candidates have been advised to review their options carefully before locking their choices, since the submitted preferences will be used during the seat allocation rounds. Those who fail to register or fill in choices within the given timeline may lose the chance to participate in the admission process.

To apply, candidates need to visit the JoSAA website and select the online registration and choice filling link available under the Candidate Activity Board. After logging in, they can choose institutes and courses in order of preference, lock the final list, submit the form, and download the confirmation page for future reference.

JoSAA counselling is the common admission route for undergraduate engineering seats in the Indian Institutes of Technology and several other centrally funded technical institutions. For JEE Advanced qualified candidates, timely registration is essential to remain eligible for allotment.

Students are also advised to keep checking the official website for updates on seat allotment rounds, reporting instructions, and document verification requirements.
