Mumbai’s emerging artists shine in art contest

Young talents gain global recognition for their endeavours

Apeejay School, Nerul in Navi Mumbai values art as a means of self-expression and is committed to offering its students a conducive environment for creative expression. In this light, the school is basking in the glory of its remarkable achievement in the ‘Camel Art Contest’ for the academic year 2022-23. This prestigious contest, known for its colossal scale, has provided a platform for nurturing the artistic talents of young minds.

A total of 1,364 students, ranging from Nursery to Class 12, wholeheartedly participated in the competition, showcasing their exceptional creativity and imagination. The competition was fierce, with students vying for recognition at the school, zonal, and even International levels. Out of which, 20 students emerged as winners in various categories.

The participants were categorised into six groups based on their respective classes. Students were chosen for their outstanding performances, and were awarded various prizes, including jumbo wax crayons at the school-level. In group A, the primary and pre-primary students emerged as winners at the school level namely, Pravya Damudre, Aaryan Omkar Mate, Yashvi Gupta, Hridansh Damudre, and Divishaa Shukla. In group B, the winners were Aditya Betigeri, Aanay Maheshwari, Ibrahim Mansoori, and Sharvil Said. These students too belonged to the primary wing.

Group C saw primary students, Rudramanya Dixit, Navya Maniyath, and Shreejita Pal receiving prizes at the school level. Group D also had middle -school students, Aditya Babar, Sharanya Sananda, Sreeroopa Dasgupta, and Ishaan Biswas as the winners. Group E’s winners included students from class 8 and 9 such as Tavisha Pasricha, Anusha Nair, and Shriya Kumbhar. From group F, higher secondary student Palak Kataria was the sole winner.

Subsequently, these students progressed to the zonal-level competition, where they once again showcased their skills and competed. The selected students from different groups were honoured with trophies and certificates. Notably, from Group A, the winners included Pravya Damudre, Aaryan Omkar Mate, Yashvi Gupta, and Hridansh Damudre. Group C saw Navya Maniyath and Shreejita Pal emerge as winners. Similarly, from Group E, Tavish Pasricha and Anusha Nair secured victory, while Palak Kataria from Group F once again achieved a solo win.

Consequently, all of these students vied for victory in the International-level Grand Finale. Ultimately, it was Pravya Damudre from Class 1-A and Aaryan Omkar Mate from KG-D who secured the appreciation awards among the Zonal-level winners.

The school’s Principal, Mr P. Subhash, and Vice Principal, Mrs Preety Gupta, congratulated and acknowledged the remarkable accomplishments of these young artists. Alongside, the winners received their well-deserved prizes and certificates during a special assembly held in the school.

The achievements of the students from Apeejay School, Nerul are a testament to their dedication, creativity, and artistic talents. The school takes pride in nurturing and encouraging the artistic expression of its students and is committed to providing a platform for them to explore their creative potential.

These young artists have not only brought honour to their school but have also shown the world that with imagination and determination, there are no limits to what they can achieve in the realm of art. The school with its rich tradition of fostering talent and nurturing creativity, continues to be a shining beacon for young artists and aspiring talent.
