The Apeejay School, Sector-15, Faridabad, held a workshop on Portfolios for Classes 3 and 4. The engaging and participative event aimed to help young achievers document their personal and academic growth. In-Charge Gunjan Sharma conducted the session. She guided students on how to maintain and organise their portfolio. She informed them that these files act as a meaningful record of their progress, goals, and overall learning journey through the school year.
A student portfolio is a file that showcases their growth over time. It includes not just their academic performance but also their broader development as individuals. During the workshop, students were introduced to what such a portfolio could include:
–Samples of their best classwork
–Creative projects
–Notes on personal goals they wish to achieve
–Reflections on subjects or activities they enjoy
–Records of co-curricular participation such as art, sports, or cultural events
–Simple self-assessments on areas they feel they have improved in over time.
She explained to the students, in an age-appropriate and engaging manner, how regularly updating their portfolios can help them track their own progress. Students can take pride in their achievements and set new goals for themselves as they move forward. Rather than treating the portfolio as another academic task, students were encouraged to see it as a personal keepsake that tells the story of their learning journey.
The interactive session ensured that the young students, still in the early years of their schooling, could easily grasp the purpose behind maintaining such a record. Through simple explanations and relatable examples, the workshop helped deepen their understanding of self-reflection. It also nurtures a sense of ownership over their own learning.

Through the activity, the school aims to instill habits of self-awareness, goal-setting, and reflection well before students move into academically rigorous classes. The workshop also reinforced the idea that success is not only about scores but about consistent effort, curiosity, and personal growth over time.
Through this initiative, Apeejay School, Sector-15, Faridabad, took a meaningful step toward fostering a growth mindset among its youngest learners. They help them understand that documenting their journey with all its milestones, big and small, is itself a valuable and celebratory exercise. The workshop left students both informed and excited to begin building their own portfolios.
