Arti Datta, mother of Taresh Datta, a class 7 student from Apeejay School, Model Town, says she is grateful to the schoolteachers for “grooming” her son and inculcating “great values”. In an interview, Arti, who is the Chief Manager at Capital Bank, reveals why Apeejay School was the “right choice” for Taresh.

Why did you pick Apeejay School, Model Town?

My husband Abhishek and I were aware of all the schools in Jalandhar that have a good reputation. We were looking for a school where my son could get good opportunities in academics and extra-curricular activities. Apeejay was the one name that was on our mind, and we hoped to get our son enrolled there. A lot of my acquaintances had enrolled their children in Apeejay and we had received very good feedback from them. Accordingly, we tried for Taresh’s admission. He has been studying at Apeejay since kindergarten and we are very fortunate that we made the right choice.

Tell us about your experience so far.

Taresh was at Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, till UKG, after which he moved to the one in Model Town. He has had a wonderful experience in both the schools. The teachers are very cooperative and helpful. Right from the start, my son felt very comfortable. Even as a little boy, Taresh never refused to go to school, rather he looked forward to it. At the Model Town school, there were some complaints initially about my son being mischievous, something you commonly see in children. So, I sought the help of the teachers and I feel a lot of gratitude for the way they groomed him over the years. Taresh is currently the Vice Head Boy of the school even though he is in the 7th standard. My son has picked up great values from his school. He participates in all kinds of extra-curricular activities and has also won awards for his academic achievements.

Do you think the teachers pay equal attention to all students?

The teachers not only interact with the students but also the parents. They are very enthusiastic and available all the time to guide you. With the onset of the pandemic, we were worried if students would be able to adapt to online classes, but the journey has been very comfortable, thanks to the teachers. Each of the 45 students in my son’s classroom is noticed and encouraged by the teachers. I am really attached to the school and so is my child.

Has your child ever felt burdened with the syllabus?

My son has never faced an issue. The syllabus is divided tactically and after completing a portion, students are made to take a test. Besides, revisions are done at regular intervals. As a working parent, I get very few hours to spend with my son or to help him with his studies, but he is easily able to handle it on his own.

So, the teachers help students prepare the lessons well?

Absolutely! Now, we even have WhatsApp groups where students get their doubts cleared. Every subject teacher makes it a point to revert instantly. I have also personally met the school principal a couple of times. She always has a pleasant smile on her face and hears you out. Overall, I am very satisfied and happy with Apeejay.
