Behind steady academic performance is a set of simple but effective habits. Focused study, timely support, and a composed mindset during exams play a key role. Over time, these habits shape a student’s ability to learn with confidence. Meet three such students from Apeejay School, Kharghar (academic year 2025-26): Alankrit Panda, Avni Sahoo, and Raghav Bansal.
In a candid interview, they share how regular effort, rather than last-minute studying, helped them ace their finals.
Alankrit used to study daily for about five to six hours with full concentration, especially during exam days. “On regular school days, I studied for around three to four hours. After studying, I made it a habit to revise everything at night. During exams, I would revise at night and then wake up early to go through my textbooks and question banks again,” this now Class VIII student shared.
He opined that the NCERT textbooks are the most important for scoring well, and for extra practice, question banks, and reference books really help. “At the beginning of Class 7, I found Mathematics difficult, but with my teachers’ guidance and daily 30-minute practice, along with checking my accuracy, I improved a lot. My teachers played a key role by providing worksheets and sample papers. Dedication, consistency, and discipline helped me the most, and my mother kept me motivated throughout,” he added.
Avni, who has a special interest in Science, really had fun learning topics like Light, including shadows and reflections, and also about the Earth, Moon, and the Sun. “For me, the key to doing well is consistency. I make sure to study all the topics beforehand so that during exams I only need to revise, which makes things much easier and less stressful. Whenever I don’t understand something, I ask my teachers and also try to research it at home. This helps me clear my concepts properly and gives me a better understanding,” she said.
The now Class VIII student also shared that her teachers played a very important role in her learning. They explain concepts clearly using practical examples and real-life applications, which makes it easier to remember. “Whenever I have a doubt, they are always there to help and guide me,” she said.
Whenever Raghav felt a lack of motivation, he started setting small, manageable targets. “I would tell myself to focus for just 30 minutes and then take a short break. Once I got started, I usually found my rhythm and stayed focused, which made my study sessions more productive without feeling overwhelmed,” he recounted.
During exams, the 15-minute reading time at the start really helped him. “I used it to scan the paper, understand the difficulty level, and plan how much time to give to each question. I also decided which answers to attempt later. By keeping track of time and following this plan, I was able to complete my paper calmly. Revision was the most important part for me. I used active recall by testing myself instead of just reading. Along with studies, getting proper sleep, staying active, and eating well helped me stay focused and perform better,” this now Class VIII said, in conclusion.
