Jalandhar college wins champion’s trophy at zonal youth festival for the 21st time

At the festival, Apeejay College of Fine Arts secured the first position in 20 out of 35 competitions

Once again, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, has lived up to its motto of ‘Soaring High’ by becoming champions of C-Zone Youth Festival held between November 15-17, 2022. The festival was organised by Guru Nanak Dev University.

ACFA secured the first position with 155 points. Out of the 35 competitions they participated in, the Apeejayites secured the first position in 20 of them. The competitions included war singing, folk orchestra, classical instrument, classical music vocal (solo), clay modelling, poster making, cartooning, mime, mimicry, skit, rangoli, mehendi, poetical symposium, one-act play, group shabad/bhajan, group-song Indian, classical dance, western vocal solo, western group song, and western instrumental solo.

The college also won the second position in 10 more competitions comprising lok geet (folk music), Kavishri, classical instrument, percussion, painting-on- the spot, collage, quiz, costume parade (fancy dress), phulkari, geet/ghazal, and giddha. They secured third position in an installation competition.

Among other events, the students participated in a one-act play and were announced as best actors.

Nearly all colleges affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University participated in the inter-college youth festival with full enthusiasm.

This is not the first time that ACFA students clinched the title at the Zonal Youth Festival. They were adjudged winners in 2021 as well, marking their 20th time that year.

Dr Neerja Dhingra, elated with her students’ achievements, emphasised how Apeejay has always been a winner in both academic and artistic activities. She appreciated the efforts of the dean of the Youth Festival, Dr Amita Mishra, and the college’s cultural advisor, Dr Arun Mishra, apart from the other teachers.

“Such a historic victory has been made possible by the able guidance of the teachers and the sheer hard work of the students,” Dr Dhingra said while acknowledging ACFA’s momentous triumph in holding the first position for 21 years.
