Truly artistic: ACFA bags Zonal Youth Festival 2021 trophy for record 20th time

It won the first position in 24 out of 36 competitive categories.

Creating history, the Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, won the champions trophy at Zonal Youth Festival 2021, held at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar, for the 20th time this year. The college secured the first position with a score of 162, defeating Jalandhar’s Lyallpur Khalsa College by 50 points.

At the festival, held between November 12-15, the students of ACFA participated in all 36 categories —ranging from group song and group dance to one-act play, poster making, mime and installation, among others — and bagged coveted positions in 34 of them. The college won the first position in 24 of these competitions (11 group and 13 solo events), the second position in six (one group and five solo events) and the third position in four (two group and two solo events). Apeejayites were overjoyed to see days of hard work and sincerity bear fruit.

Dr Neerja Dhingra, principal, ACFA, said, “At the outset, I wish to express my whole-hearted gratitude to Madam President esteemed Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia for her dynamic motivation and inspiration which propelled us to emerge as champions. I am also beholden to Dr Sucharita Sharma, Director, Apeejay Education Society, for her constant support and guidance at every step.”

“I also acknowledge the efforts of Dr Arun Mishra, Cultural Advisor, Dr Amita Mishra, Dean, Youth Festival, all the teachers-in-charge and accompanists,” she added.

“I congratulate the winners for their achievements and applaud the hard work put in by them to accomplish their goal. We hope to continue this winning streak in the Inter-Zonal Youth Festival too.”
