‘Apeejay College of Fine Arts produces top fashion designers’
This fashion design student’s father explains how her daughter is being guided well to become a professional in the industry
When we think of fashion, it is not just photo-genic models that come to our mind but also fashion designers who work tirelessly on creating mesmerising outfits. Over the years, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar has produced many fashion designers who are doing some stellar work in the industry.
Let us know about a budding designer Tarandeep Kaur, who already has a heart-warming portfolio of designs and is searching actively for an internship opportunity under a fashion designer. In a free will chat with Tarandeep Kaur’s father, Mr Jorawar Singh, we trace back Kaur’s interest in fashion and learn how the college is helping her realise her dream.
Which course is Tarandeep pursuing?
She is a Bachelors of Design (fashion and textile) student at ACFA.
How did she get interested in fashion design?
Tarandeep was very good at painting since school. She chose this as her subject eventually and she even has a beautiful portfolio of fashion designs. It delights the eyes as one goes through her designs page by page.
Is she progressing in the course?
Tarandeep is learning a lot in this course and she has been getting a great score in the exams as well. She has made many friends in her class and is well adjusted here, it almost feels like a second home to her.
We hope the teachers are grooming the students well?
Absolutely! The Head of the Department Rajni ma’am is an excellent educator. She is very keen to teach new concepts to the students and keeps a close eye on their growth. I have myself interacted with her a few times and I can vouch for the great feedback I get about her from my daughter.
Does Tarandeep participate in extra curricular activities?
She participates in every competition. The teachers motivate all students for the same though she is already motivated about it (laughs). My daughter even went to Amritsar recently to compete in the Kadhai Phulkari stitching competition. She is also very interested in painting.
A professional designer is the career then?
Yes, Tarandeep is determined. She plans on doing an internship under a reputed fashion designer now. We are searching for a good opportunity in this regard. The class teachers are motivating her the same.
Any workshops or guest lectures the college organises?
Yes! They keep organising a plethora of such events to guide the students. It is a very informative space.
