Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, organised an orientation programme for parents of pre-primary students in the school. The programme aimed at familiarising them with the school’s teaching methodologies and co-scholastic activities as “partners in progress”.

On the occasion, parents were extended a warm welcome alongside the ceremonial lighting of the lamp to seek blessings from the Almighty. The programme commenced with a significant thought: “A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of our universe,” which set the theme for the day.

Dr Bhavna Chadha, psychologist, was the guest speaker at the event. She talked about parents’ crucial role in shaping the destiny of students. She accentuated on the importance of children’s well-being and the need for a supportive environment to address their curiosities and feelings positively.

The expert introduced parents to early childhood care and education (ECCE), which is adopted in the foundation stage of a child’s learning journey. “Show support and let their child know that it’s not only okay but normal, to feel frustrated or anxious at times like this. Help your children to stick to their routines and make learning playful by incorporating it into everyday activities like cooking, family reading time or games,” she said.

Sandeep Singh Kathuria, principal, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, addressed the audience and spoke at length about the school’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, apart from the other schools and higher education institutes under the group. He emphasised the importance of building a strong connection with school patrons. He further sought parents’ recommendations to provide the best quality education and opportunities for children’s holistic growth.

The principal shared tips on good parenting as well. He talked about various ways to build a strong foundation with love and care. He informed parents about thematic learning and its various benefits, art-integrated classes, celebration of festivals and other activities, all of which are practised at Apeejay.

“The orientation programme was well-organised and properly introduced. Our queries were addressed. Everything at Apeejay is above expectations. We are very happy,” said Ritu Ahluwalia, mother of Lakshya Swami, a nursery student.

“This was our second orientation programme,” added Anjali Choudhary and Deepak Choudhary, parents of nursery student Aadya. “It was fantastic! It not only raised the bar for the school but also created a new benchmark for a lot of other Delhi schools to follow suit! The programme was very enriching, truly ice-breaking and definitely laid a strong foundation for a good parent-teacher relationship. Thank you for the wonderful experience!”

Pre-primary students put up mesmerising cultural performances as the audience erupted in applause.

The orientation programme proved to be a successful effort made by the school in educating the parents to look after and guide their children in a proper manner. It also helped parents identify suitable follow-up methods to keep track of their child’s progress in school and thereby reinforce the learning process.
