Currently pursuing a PGDM in Management and Mass Communication from Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, Poorva Sharma has recently secured a placement opportunity with Communique India as Senior Executive – Concepts & Experience Design. Passionate about content creation, branding, and creative strategy, she has actively explored diverse aspects of media and communication through projects and internships. Her journey at AIMC has helped her strengthen her creativity, communication, and strategic thinking while preparing her for the dynamic media and branding industry. Read edited excerpts:

How did you prepare for the placement process ?

I focused on improving my communication skills and gaining practical exposure through projects, presentations, content writing, and team experiences. I also connected with people from the industry on LinkedIn and stayed updated through platforms like Social Samosa, exchange4media , and Brand Equity. The industry-driven learning throughout our program also helped a lot because we got to practically experience and explore different things instead of only studying them theoretically.

How did Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication and faculty members help you to prepare for the placement rounds?

Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication played a major role in shaping my confidence and industry understanding. The faculty members constantly encouraged us to think practically and not just academically. Through events like We Care Film Festival and Synergy, I got a strong understanding of the entire process from conceptualisation to execution, which really helped me learn how things work in real industry environments.Presentations, live projects, group activities, and faculty guidance during resume building and interview preparation also helped me approach placement rounds with a much more professional mindset.

What kind of skills do you think are important to crack the placement with ease?

I think communication skills, adaptability, confidence, and practical understanding are very important during placements. Along with technical knowledge, companies also look at how well you present your ideas and work with people. Creativity, patience, and consistency in practice also make a big difference because confidence builds over time. Most importantly, being genuine and clear about what one wants really helps during interviews.

What are your future aspirations

In the future, I want to keep exploring different creative spaces and grow in areas like branding, content, and communication. Right now, my main focus is on learning as much as I can, gaining meaningful experiences, and understanding where my strengths fit best. I’m excited to keep evolving professionally and creatively through the opportunities ahead.
