Recently, Apeejay School, Noida, organised the Awakened Citizenship Programme (ACP) training session for the academic session 2026–27 in an online mode under the guidance of the Ramakrishna Mission. Designed to empower educators as facilitators of value-based learning, the programme focused on nurturing empathy, self-awareness, social responsibility, and ethical thinking among students.

The two-day training programme brought together teachers in an enriching environment of reflection, dialogue, and collaborative learning. Rooted in the philosophy that education must shape character alongside intellect, the session encouraged teachers to create classrooms where students feel heard, respected, and inspired to think independently.

One of the most inspiring highlights of the programme was the interaction with Maharajji from the Ramakrishna Mission. Addressing the participants, he emphasised the importance of teachers becoming facilitators rather than conventional instructors. He encouraged educators to replace directive words such as “must” and “should” with the more empowering “can,” thereby motivating students through positivity and encouragement rather than compulsion.

He also guided teachers to acknowledge and accept every student response without categorising it as right or wrong. This approach, Maharajji explained, helps foster a reflective and inclusive learning atmosphere where students feel confident to express themselves freely. The session highlighted a significant shift from top-down instruction to peer and personal learning, enabling students to evolve through dialogue, introspection, and shared experiences.

The first day of the programme introduced teachers to the objectives, vision, and methodology of the ACP through interactive activities, group discussions, and experiential exercises. Participants explored ways to integrate values and emotional intelligence into everyday classroom practices.

On the second day, teachers actively demonstrated how they would facilitate ACP sessions in their respective classrooms. Through presentations and role-play activities, they showcased learner-centric approaches that encourage participation, critical thinking, empathy, and self-discovery among students.

The training session proved to be highly engaging, insightful, and transformative. It equipped teachers with practical tools and meaningful perspectives to guide students towards becoming compassionate, responsible, and awakened citizens. The programme reaffirmed Apeejay School Noida’s commitment to holistic education and its continued endeavour to nurture not only academic excellence but also strong human values in every learner.
