‘Apeejay School was always my first choice for schooling’

For Kanchan Mala, choosing a school for her son Uday wasn’t a decision made in isolation. It came after watching how her nephew thrived at Apeejay School, Nerul. Years later, with Uday now in Class 8C, she reflects on what convinced her, what’s held up, and what she still hopes to see more of.

What made you consider Apeejay School, Nerul for your child in the first place?

My first priority was always Apeejay. My brother had recommended the school to me. Then my sister’s son was already studying there and seeing him learning skills made me want to admit Uday in Apeejay School, Nerul. Seeing that firsthand made the decision easy.

What were the three things you liked about Apeejay School, Nerul, after admitting your son?

Education quality, the overall atmosphere of the school, and the holistic development of the child were my three biggest priorities and Apeejay excelled on that.  Looking at the teachers’ notes, classwork, homework, and how well the curriculum aligns with NCERT standards, I would rate it a ten out of ten. The academic foundation here is genuinely strong.

I expected a well-rounded education that would grow with my son as he moved up the grades. That’s exactly what’s happened where school balances both academics and activities. The academics have remained consistently strong through the years.

Uday has flourished here. I have been happy watching the school continue to develop and improve, especially with the infrastructure upgrades I’ve noticed recently.

What are your views on how School is exposing students to extracurricular activities?

The school does a good job here too. The theme-based assemblies and a range of extracurricular activities keep the children genuinely engaged. Uday himself is enthusiastic about it. He balances his studies well while also taking real interest in these activities, which I think reflects how naturally the school builds that balance into daily school life.

I didn’t just want a school focused on textbooks. I wanted somewhere that would encourage children to take initiative and grow as individuals. Apeejay has consistently done that, encouraging even the quieter children to eventually come forward and participate.

How is the school environment and the way teachers interact with students?

The environment is very warm and supportive. I have had the chance to interact with the teachers during PTMs. I have always found them approachable and genuinely invested in the children’s progress. They know where the child should work in both academic and skill learning. They encouraged my son to participate in different activities. The overall environment feels nurturing. 

Did factors such as location, infrastructure, safety, or accessibility influence your decision? 

Yes, safety and campus upkeep mattered a lot to me. What I have particularly appreciated is watching the school actively invest in its infrastructure over the past couple of years. I’ve seen reconstruction and improvement work happening, which tells me the school takes campus quality seriously and keeps evolving rather than standing still. When it comes to hygiene and cleanliness there is a proper time to do so. I have never faced any complaints from Uday regarding safety or hygiene. 

What changes have you noticed in your child since they joined the school?

Uday has grown into a more engaged, well-rounded student. He is now genuinely interested both in his studies and the activities the school offers. Watching that balance develop naturally over the years has been wonderful to see as a parent.
