India Showcases Deep-Tech Strength at BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition in New Delhi

India’s growing deep-tech ecosystem is taking the global stage with the BRICS Bharat Innovates (BBI) Exposition, being organised on September 11 and 12 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The exposition is being held alongside the 18th BRICS Summit during India’s 2026 BRICS Chairship.

Organised by the Ministry of Education in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the two-day event features 37 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures. The participating innovators are showcasing indigenous technologies while seeking investment, technology collaborations and access to international markets across BRICS nations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and BRICS leaders are expected to visit the exposition. Senior Indian and international delegates, investors, CEOs and business leaders are also participating.

37 Startups Showcase India’s Deep-Tech Potential

The 37 participating ventures have been selected from 120 startups and ventures that featured at the first Bharat Innovates exposition in Nice, France, earlier this year.

The New Delhi exposition reflects India’s BRICS Chairship theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” while supporting the BRICS Education Track’s focus on strengthening research, innovation and startup ecosystems.

Held alongside the BRICS Business Forum on September 11, the exposition gives Indian innovators an opportunity to connect with investors, industry leaders and companies from BRICS countries. The interactions are expected to lead to business partnerships, technology collaborations, investment opportunities, B2B engagements and potential entry into international markets. B2B matchmaking is being supported in collaboration with FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.

Creating Global Pathways for Indian Innovation

Bharat Innovates is a Ministry of Education initiative aimed at taking innovations emerging from India’s higher education ecosystem to global markets. The programme connects startups, universities, laboratories and research parks with international corporations, investors, incubators, academic institutions, research organisations, governments and overseas alumni.

The BRICS edition provides selected innovators with high-level visibility and structured opportunities to engage directly with investors and business leaders from BRICS nations.

Building on the France Success

The New Delhi exposition follows the inaugural Bharat Innovates event held in Nice, France, from June 14 to 16 during the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. Jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, it brought together 120 Indian deep-tech ventures across 13 thematic areas and 15 institutions, including IITs, IISc, BIRAC and iDEX.

The France edition attracted more than 2,000 participants from 29 countries, resulting in over 30 collaboration MoUs and partnerships. Indian startups also received funding commitments worth US$254.5 million after 1,350 B2B meetings.

Advancing BRICS Education Cooperation

The exposition also builds upon India’s wider BRICS Education Track engagements. The Ministry of Education conducted the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting on Education on August 5 and the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting on August 7 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The ministers adopted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration, identifying five priority areas: early childhood education and foundational literacy and numeracy; skill development and technical and vocational education and training; research, innovation and startup ecosystems; mutual recognition of qualifications; and capacity building for academic leadership and institutional development.
